Terrific UI and unique life logger
Today+ is a comprehensive life logging system with a unique intuitive interface and cool graphing. The one handed rotating disk and scroll wheel is worth the price of admission.
You log activities then hit the timer button to start. After you finish the activity, you open up Today+ and hit the timer button again to record the end time. Magically, they are laid out in a pie chart that you can flip in 12 or24 hour views. And the timings are recorded in the background - Very cool!
Additionally, you can record a quantity and note for these activity records. If you forget to record an activity, you can go back and edit the date time stamps, but it is hard to judge when, since the record listings are in duration intervals so you may get a gap or overlap with the previous or next activity. A way to bridge these gaps or overlaps automatically would be great.
The debs have added swipe to delete individual entries, but no support for multiple timings.
These records are added throughout your day and there is a bar graph button to review them by week, month or year to track progress.
You can select different color themes for the UI, but I prefer the default sleek black.
The templating system to add your categories and activities is comprehensive. The sample defaults from the developers were very helpful to get started. There is a unit book and system I didn't quite understand but you can measure activities as kcal of energy expenditure or longevity in the examples. The example of Your Lovely Dog has happy and unhappy moods as activities, but I'd like to record some activities like mood or energy level with values high, medium, and low which don't quite fit the entry system. Luckily the app has these options to game or tweak the templating. Best of all, you can export your data as csv by email or wifi.
Despite using Dayta and Way of Life, both of which are also terrific, Today+ has thus far captured my attention with its unique easy to use interface and time stamped based life logging. Some more examples or documentation of how the units work and a better way to fill in the missing gaps in entry would help. I think maybe the devs are non native English speakers so the documentation may not be as clear but don't let that deter checking this great app out. It is clear enough and built into this gem.
One star off for no camera support for the iPod Touch 4th Gen.
Life logging with Today+ is definitely worth your time.
